Marathon Fundraising EXTENDED

THANK YOU so much for your amazing support and hard work with Marathon over the past few weeks.  On Friday we had a cold day of raking leaves, offering our joyful suffering up for those Holy Souls in purgatory.  However, we have not yet reached our goal of $35,000 needed to support our school.  Therefore, we will be EXTENDING our fundraising efforts for one more week to help us get over-the-top.

Hitting our goal will unlock the goal-prizes of a day of Whirlyball for the middle schoolers, SkyZone for the grade-schoolers, and a Comedian/Juggler for the Kindergarten & Preschool.  Of course hitting our goal also means being able to wear our Marathon tee-shirt every Friday throughout the rest of the year (which also means no need to have a clean uniform for your kids one day a week.)

To help us hit the target, we are sweetening the deal with an extra special DRAWING.

  • For those kids (preschool through middle school) who bring in an additional $100 this week, they will be entered into a drawing with some great prizes: Valley Fair Gold Card Season Pass which allows unlimited visits, Squishmallows for little ones, 40oz Stanley mug, SJB Yeti mugs, healthy goodie bags, engaging kids books, week-long out of uniform pass, restaurant gift cards, and MUCH MORE!  EVERY student who brings in $100 will win a prize in this drawing!

  • For the classroom who brings in the most next week, we will have an extra special prize - a silly string war with Father Neil and a special snack that day!

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, the actual cost to educate a student for one year at Saint John's is just under $10,000/student.  Tuition covers 52% while fundraising and grants cover another 34%.  Fundraising is very important in closing the gap between tuition and expenses.  I’m so grateful to our many donors who help by offering matching funds to support our school and double your efforts, and I’m working on getting more as we speak.

The economy has hit us all hard, including our generous donors who give us so much, and so it takes more effort now than ever before to reach our goals.  Money from Marathon goes directly to paying our teachers through the months of November, December, and January.  We operate month to month here, distributing every dollar we receive to the staff and teachers as it comes in.  We do not have large buffers of cash to float us through, but rather rely on these fundraisers to pay the bills for a few months until the next one comes along.

Again, thank you so much for your support of YOUR school.  Your kids are unlocking their bright future here and we LOVE to be a part of seeing them learn and grow.

In the Mercy of Jesus,

Father Neil
