Mr. Jonathan Schoettle

My name is Mr. Jonathan Schoettle and it is my privilege to teach Middle School Social Studies at Saint John the Baptist! I grew up in the Duluth countryside with my parents, twin sister, and a Shetland Sheepdog. I was blessed to be formed into my Catholic identity by Father Mike Schmitz at the Newman Center at UMD.

I received a B.A. in Anthropology with a minor in Communication (2020) at the University of Minnesota Duluth. I received my Masters of Science in Teaching from the College of Saint Scholastica in 2023. In my free time I am an avid reader of theology (ecclesiastical history, lives of the Saints, Sacred Scripture) and history (American and Ancient, primarily). I am always interested in receiving good book recommendations!

I decided to become a teacher because I have always enjoyed reading, learning new things, and sharing knowledge with others. I previously worked for Saint Isidore’s, an online learning initiative through the Archdiocese of Denver, Colorado where I fell in love with Catholic education. I am committed to designing interesting and engaging lessons that also touch on aspects of the truth and beauty of the Catholic faith. I look forward to meeting you!
